As part of the on-going program of cooperation between Manchester Metropolitan University, UK and our university, a joint professorial workshop was held from 5th to 7th of May 2015 at the College of Computer Science and Technology, NUAA.
The workshop consisted of three sessions and began with a welcome speech by Prof. Jin Quanyuan (金泉元), the head of International Cooperation Dept. The delegation from MMU was presenting their current research projects and future research ideas in the first session. Prof. Martyn Amos, the director of Informatics Research Centre, MMU, started the session with an overview of research in School of Computing, Mathematics & Digital Technology, MMU and then followed by his colleagues, Dr. Nicholas Costen, Dr. Liangxiu Han, and Dr. Jim O’Shea. In the second session, the local delegation was reporting their research works in CCST. The session started with an introduction by Prof. Daoqiang Zhang (张道强) and was contributed by Prof. Xuejun Liu (刘学军), Dr. Jianqiu Xu (许建秋), Dr. Youwen Zhu (朱友文), and Dr. Xiangping Zhai (翟象平). The presentations from both sides were informative and exciting and aroused hot discussions, especially during the second session. The third session was dedicated to an open discussion concerning the cooperation and collaboration between NUAA and MMU. Topics covered include the possible areas and formats for the cooperation, the necessary mechanism of implementation, and plan for the next stage. The workshop was concluded with an action list agreed by both sides.
