College of Computer Science and Technology of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics is a key constructing discipline of national “211 Project” in Jiangsu Province. We are entitled to award doctorate degree on two first-level disciplines— Computer Science and Technology; and Software Engineering, as well as two post-doctoral research stations on Computer Science and Technology; and Software Engineering. Our three disciplines— Computer Science and Technology is the key discipline of Jiangsu Province; Software Engineering is both the key disciplines of Ministry of Industrial and Information Technology of China, and Jiangsu Province; Internet of Things is the key discipline of Ministry of Industrial and Information Technology of China.

Our college offers a full range of courses to meet the needs of its own students and those from other colleges. Its programs lead to the BEng, MPhil, and PhD degrees. Computer Science programs at NUAA prepare students for exciting challenges and new opportunities that help to bring such impact to our lives. Over the recent years, our college constructed five personnel training and scientific research bases, covering topics in the following areas.

1. Machine Learning and Computational Intelligence

Research in the Institution of Machine Learning and Intelligence Computation (IMLI) focuses on developing novel techniques and theories in statistical machine learning and intelligence computation, and their applications in a wide range of fields, including computer vision, biological feature recognition, biomedical image analysis, multimedia data processing, bioinformatics and natural language processing, etc . At present, it has 5 full professors, 10 associate professors and 2 lectures, among which 95% have the Ph.D degrees acquired in domestic or from abroad. In the past 20 years, this institution has been involved in one Key Project of National Natural Science Fund of China (NSFC), and has been the PIs of 15 General Programs of NSFC and 12 research projects from ministerial and provincial-level funds. The total scientific research funding of the IMLI is currently approaching RMB 5 million yuan and the accumulated engineering application funding is close to RMB 4 million yuan. Over 160 scientific papers have been published by the members of IMLI under the support of these fundings. Among them, 3 papers received honorable mention for Biennial Awards by the Journal of Pattern Recognition, 2 papers received Most Cited Articles Awards and 3 papers appeared in the top 5% of the ESI (Essential Science Indicators) rankings.

The IMLI has obtained many titles of honor, including the Second Honor of the National Nature Science (with the cooperation of Nanjing University, 2014) and“Qinglan Project” Innovation Group (2012). In 2014, one member of IMLI was awarded the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars and one member was awarded the Jiangsu Province Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2013. Other academic titles of honor received by the members of IMLI include the leader of “333 Project” of Jiangsu Province (2013), the outstanding young teacher of “Qing Lan Project”(2008), Young Teacher Award by Fok Ying Tong Education Foundation (2012) and the “Six Talent Peaks”cultivation object (20xx) . Besides, 2 Ph.D students advised in the IMLI received the award of National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Honorable Mention (2006, 2011), 5 Ph.D students received the Jiangsu Province Excellent Doctoral Dissertation award, 4 graduate students received the Jiangsu Province Excellent Master Thesis award, and one undergraduate student received the Outstanding Award on China Software Cup in 2013.

2. Software Engineering

The Institute of software focuses on both theoretical and application research on software engineering, which include mathematical logics, model theory, process algebra, approximation algorithms, software requirements engineering, model driven engineering, program analysis and testing, software reliability, formal methods, software verification, software trustworthiness evaluation, software metrics, web services, ontology and semantic modeling, software process, and software safety. The institute has completed 13 research projects funded by National Natural Science Foundation, 2 projects funded by National 863 Plan, 3 projects supported by Aviation Science Fund, 1 project supported by Doctoral Fund of Ministry of Education, and 10 other collaborative projects supported by the software industry.
